Product Manager, Fashion & Product Design

Job Purpose:

Lead product development and management for Pantone tools serving the global fashion design and product design markets, including beauty, home goods, and consumer durables, delivering new innovative product solutions and managing the health of existing Pantone color tools to drive sustainable growth.

Product management is responsible for managing the products and solutions that serve our customer today, while identifying the markets, trends, and technology that will meet their needs for the future. This dual mission requires attention and focus on winning in the market now while maintaining a long-term perspective on market forces, competitive landscape, and our sources of competitive advantage.

In this role, the Product Manager for Fashion & Product Design will focus on the products and solutions that support color selection, specification, and realization in the design process for the textile design and product development segments, with a focus on apparel and fashion accessories, soft and hard home furnishings, color cosmetics, consumer technology and durable goods.

The role and responsibilities within product management are dynamic and include: customer research and insights, competitive analysis, product mix management, product roadmap development, product design and packaging, pricing, and innovation launch management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • New Product Development
    • Collaborate with Market Intelligence and Trend Forecasting teams to seek consumer insights and define new product opportunities and requirements. Understand and prioritize the critical trends in colors, materials, and finishes in design. Understand and react to changes in design workflow, while accounting for regional differences globally.
    • Maintain a pulse on the market through competitive analysis to develop a sustainable, differentiated strategic position in the market.
    • Define a defensible and differentiated product offering that provides meaningful value for the consumer in the future. Build an innovation pipeline and roadmap for the next 5 years.
    • Create and drive prioritized development of the physical product roadmaps. Partner with all relevant functions to manage product development of prioritized products across product design, pricing, operations, commercialization, and training. Lead development projects through the established innovation management process.
    • Partner with the Pantone Communications, Sales, and Operations teams to manage product launches. Lead internal communication to key stakeholders about product launch timelines, pricing, and details. Build sales presentations and product demonstrations to support the launch of new products. Provide direction to marketing counterparts to ensure they create relevant and accurate materials that communicates key product features and value proposition across web, advertising, social media, sell sheets, trade shows, and other marketing channels.
  • Product Line Health
    • Develop pricing, revenue and gross margin forecasts based on market sizing and customer value. Manage monthly reporting and/or corrective actions.
    • Manage revenue forecasting accuracy, product gross margin and quality metrics. Present results to senior leadership for review.
    • Perform regular product-line reviews and problem solving initiatives to identify and correct gaps to plan.
    • Co-ordinate with the service team to develop support services to increase customer satisfaction. Co-ordinate with the sales team to ensure proper channel management.

Key Technical Attributes:

  • 4+ years of product management experience within the fashion/apparel industry or within a business serving the fashion/apparel industry. Other product categories (e.g. cosmetics or home goods) a plus
  • Experience in product management or development at a color / trend company serving apparel
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Industrial Design or Engineering. MBA a plus
  • Ability to drive projects through a detailed product management process. Keen understanding of all aspects of the product lifecycle including market launch, sales forecasting, pricing, gross margin evolution and end-of-life management.
  • Creativity to develop and deploy diverse problem-solving models, ability to build business cases through strong financial and analytical skills.

Sales Director - Americas

Job Purpose:

Responsible for planning and directing aggressive growth for the Americas (i.e. North, South, and Central America) sales organization for Pantone LLC. Plan, direct and coordinate the efforts of sales associates toward the accomplishment of annual sales revenue targets across all channels. The position will lead existing and new market and industry business development through direct and indirect channels. S/he will drive and expand the key account strategy and lead the inside/direct sales team. The position will enhance the sales organization through recruitment, mentoring, and associate development for Growth. The position will excel at managing metrics that exceed the goals and objectives of the Company. Proven results in over-achieving sales plan and market share gain is critical.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, direct and implement sales and commercial goals, policies and procedures which support corporate objectives, plans and policies utilizing the following tools:

    • Channel Management
  • Develop and deploy winning go-to-market on key countries, effectively balancing channel mix of direct, distribution and eCommerce to drive overall revenue growth and share gain.
  • Hire, retain, develop, and motivate, top-tier sales talent. Mentor and coach to specific performance metrics including bookings, revenues, funnel size/velocity, productivity, and new account penetration.
  • Develop and drive the sales forecast for all selling regions.
  • Increase sales to existing and new customers, identify market potential for new customers, develop launch strategies, assure adequate market coverage and deliver maximum performance from the sales organization.
  • Aggressively grow the business with key accounts in conjunction with other regional sales leaders. Use the standard tracking and measurement systems to support aggressive growth of this customer segment.
  • Coordinate with Product Marketing to ensure efficient, effective product development and commercialization.
  • Work closely with Sales Operations to ensure accurate loading of the planned forecast in support of all customer requirements.
  • Support Marketing in developing and maintaining a detailed, accurate assessment of our competitors and their strategic directions and products.
  • Review budgetary requests from team members' areas of responsibility for employment and capital assets and consolidate them into an overall sales budget.
  • Job functions include but are not limited to those listed. Will perform all tasks as assigned by the Global Sales Vice President.

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Marketing or related. MBA a plus.
  • 10 or more years of progressive sales management experience with at least 8 years of overall responsibility for $20M in revenue in order to have acquired the necessary base of knowledge to perform the job (such as marketing, sales, forecasting, sales analysis, competitor analysis, policy formulation, budgeting, distribution, pricing, customer service, advertising and people skills).
  • Relevant industry experiences, with commercial roles serving graphics, textile and/or industrial designers. Understanding color science a plus.
  • Experience managing territories with mix channels (direct, distribution, eCommerce)
  • Strong communications skills; sense of urgency, customer focused; adaptive to change; strategic and tactical.
  • Ability to effectively perform the above mentioned essential job functions.
