What colors and color combinations will be most prominent in your Fall 2016 collection?
I think a palette of rich French wines: Beaujolais, Bourgogne, Bordeaux against a backdrop of Blue Sky with Serene Grey and Pinkish clouds. It translates into a palette of warm rich Reds PANTONE 18-1454 Red Clay, PANTONE 19-1758 Haute Red, PANTONE19-1662 Samba, PANTONE 18-1555 Molten Lava. Dark cooler Wine tones, such as PANTONE 18-2027 Beaujolais, PANTONE 19-2024 Rhododendron, PANTONE 19-2430 Purple Potion mixed with pastel light Greys, and fleshy tones PANTONE 14-1312 Pale Blush. A palette where White is replaced by PANTONE 14-4201 Lunar Rock, graphic Black holds its own and accents are PANTONE 16-4132 Little Boy Blue or PANTONE 17-2617 Dahlia Mauve.
What inspired your choice of colors?
Haunting botanicals as found in Japanese prints. I have been looking a lot at the work of Keika Hyakushiki. His prints of chrysanthemums are both frightening and divine. His evocative illustrations of flowers seem to embody the modern spirit; they are in constant flux and motion, the colors are rich and spare, and the lines are delicate but direct. There is something very commanding in these prints that I found both inspiring and relatable.
