PANTONE Color language adopted by U.S. Army for facilities worldwide

Pantone US Army

In order to be assured that exterior paint colors for all Army facilities worldwide would be consistent, the U.S. Army has adopted a color palette drawn from the PANTONE for architecture and interiors color system.

The purpose was to establish a non-proprietary color standard for the 19 Army exterior colors, which are to be included in the new Army Installation Design Standards. This will help to promote competitive bidding on Army contracts while helping to guarantee quality execution.

The U.S. Army thought it was important to codify the 19 exterior colors to PANTONE, whose international standing would ensure color consistency for all installations.
