Color is life. Live it.

From Dazzling Blue to Mandarin Orange – Pantone Debuts Broad Range of Colorful, Design-inspired Lifestyle Products at Maison & Objet

PARIS, Maison & Objet, Hall 6, I42, Sept. 3 – 7, 2010 – For the first time at the Maison & Objet 2010 trade show in Paris Nord-Villepinte, Pantone LLC, an X-Rite company (NASDAQ: XRIT) and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, will showcase the PANTONE UNIVERSE Collection, an expanding line of colorful, design-inspired products for consumers.

“PANTONE UNIVERSE extends Pantone's color and trend expertise into innovative, style-driven products designed to provide the general public with an enhanced understanding of the emotional aspects of color,” said Lisa Herbert, vice president of Pantone's fashion, home and consumer division. “Our goal is to develop an iconic and instantly recognizable collection of lifestyle products that inspire, uplift and entice consumers to explore their own creativity and individual color preferences.”

The PANTONE brand and its iconic chip have inspired designers and manufacturers in a variety of industries, and their creations will be presented at the PANTONE UNIVERSE booth at Maison & Objet. The PANTONE UNIVERSE Collection spans a broad range of timeless items, including housewares like the popular PANTONE mugs and tea cups, fashion accessories such as cuff links and tote bags, stationery and office supplies including notebooks and pencils, home design accessories like stools and chairs, lifestyle-related essentials such as the famous PANTONE bicycle, apparel and casual wear including scarves, socks and ties, and electronic accessories such as iPhone and iPod cases.

Product colors in the PANTONE UNIVERSE Collection are updated seasonally based on fashion color trends. Each item is accompanied by “emotional color cues,” indicating feelings triggered by featured colors. Consumers can select product colors based on the image or message they wish to convey and also use this information to gain a greater understanding of color and how it affects their lives by influencing mood, thoughts, emotions and physical reactions.

“65 percent of purchasing decisions involve color,” explained Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, a color research and information center that shares its color expertise with professionals in a variety of industries. “Color has the unique ability to attract and engage the eye, elicit emotion, enhance products and environments, and ultimately tempt the consumer to buy. Color is the catalyst that can spark the sale, define the space and create the magic and mood.”

PANTONE-licensed products are available at department and specialty stores as well as design-led retailers. Licensees are selected on the basis of their long-term commitment and understanding of the integrity and quality of the PANTONE brand.

One of the most recent additions to the PANTONE UNIVERSE is the PANTONE HOTEL, a boutique hotel in the center of Brussels that combines a chic, colorful design aesthetic with comfortable, well-appointed guest rooms. The hotel offers the largest selection of PANTONE UNIVERSE products, all available for purchase at the hotel.

PANTONE UNIVERSE is a collection of lifestyle products based on fashion color trends for the consumer. The collection, consisting of tabletop, stationery items, travel gear, accessories and now the PANTONE HOTEL BRUSSELS, combines timeless designs and modern materials with current trend colors.
